The Bettie Page Historic Maker

The Story
In 2022 I proposed an idea to the city of Nashville: Let's honor Bettie Mae Page, the Queen of Pinups, with a historic marker! I wanted it to go outside of her former high school - Hume Fogg - because that was a very significant place in her young life. It was there that she excelled and thrived - it was her home away from home. She was Salutatorian of her class and was voted "Most Likely To Succeed" by her classmates. She was in nearly every club and extracurricular activity. I'm sure her classmates knew that she was destined for success, but I doubt any of them thought she would become a worldwide recognized icon - all on her own terms. Needless to say, the city accepted my proposal for the marker and in 2023 it was dedicated on what would have been her 100th birthday. I had the mayor declare it "Bettie Page Day" in the city, and it was such a great day! Members of her family came into town along with some of her biographers and fans from all over the world. It was quite the crowd at the dedication! It was an experience I'll never forget and I am thankful to the city of Nashville for realizing the importance in doing this. I hope that people who walk by the marker learn a little something and appreciate a super interesting part of Nashville's rich history.
